Everton A.F.C. was formed in 1958 with one Junior team participating in the Munster Junior League. Almost all the players came from the Bandon Rd. area of Cork. In 1962 the schoolboys section was founded. The decision to implement a youth policy at this early stage in the history of the club has been vindicated over the years. Most of the players playing today came through the schoolboy ranks of the club. In 1966 Everton were runners-up to East Wall in the F.A.I. junior cup.

In 1969 the club entered the Munster Senior League. In 1981 land was purchased in the Togher area of Cork and 2 pitches were developed. Also in the same year Denis Irwin and John Keane were capped by Ireland under 15. Denis Irwin was subsequently signed by Leeds United and later on in his career had a very successful spell with Manchester United. Everton have won the Munster Senior League once in 1993/94 and were runners-up in the F.A.I. Intermediate Cup on two occasions,1986 & 1997.

At present the club, with most of the players coming from the Togher area, has a Senior team, 2 Junior teams, an over 35 team,3 Youth teams plus a schoolboy section with teams from under 7 upwards. In 2002 our Junior team playing in the Cork A.U.L. reached the last 16 of the F.A.I. Junior Cup.Everton have qualified four times to play in the F.A.I. cup. In 2007 after reaching the final of the Munster Youth Cup for the first time and the FAI Youth Cup for the first time our youth team were unlucky to lose both finals; 3-1 to Wembley Rovers in Turners Cross and 2-1 to Castlebar Celtic in the FAI Youths Cup Final which was played in Castlebar. In 2008 Everton AFC celebrated 50 years in football. In 2010 Everton AFC completed a refurbishment of the dressing rooms in Everton Park which includes a gymnasium.
